ACDS Interim Head of School
Alexandria Country Day School (ACDS) welcomes Susan Lair, Ph. D., ACDS Interim Head of School for the 2018-2019 school year.
Dr. Lair has 45 years of experience in education with the last 26 in independent schools in Texas. Earlier this year, she retired after 17 years as Head of School at St. Francis Episcopal Day School in Houston.
“Susie will bring a wealth of independent school experience which will allow ACDS to continue to develop the leaders of tomorrow for our community,” said Susan Broussard, ACDS Board of Trustees president. “She will help us continue on our path of academic excellence and evaluate opportunities to improve all aspects of our school.”
Dr. Lair has a B.S. in Education from the University of North Texas; a M.S. in Education Administration and Math Education from Texas Christian University; and a Ph.D. in Education Administration and Finance from the University of Texas.
Prior to her position at St. Francis Episcopal, she served as the Head of Upper School of St. Mary’s Hall in San Antonio and in various roles at Fort Worth Country Day School. She began her career as a mathematics teacher in the Bryan and Fort Worth Independent School Districts. Currently Dr. Lair is on the Board of Directors of the Independent School Associations of the Southwest (ISAS) and teaches a new heads workshop for Independent School Management, Inc.

Established in 1969, ACDS is accredited by ISAS and serves students from 3 years old in its pre-kindergarten program to eighth grade.
