4-H is a national youth development organization that empowers young people to reach their full potential.
Our 4-H Club is a dynamic non-formal education program that helps develop life skills in today’s youth and is available to students in grades 4th through 8th.
Head, Heart, Hands and Health are the 4-H’s which represent the four-fold training and development that members receive.
We encourage our members to choose at least one project to complete during the year. Project themes include animal science, environmental education, energy & machines, health/foods/fitness, child development/family life, personal development, and outdoor skills/shooting sports.
Members are also encouraged to participate in various community service projects throughout the year. There are also a number of activities offered on parish and state levels, such as the fair, achievement day, and various contests and camps.
ACDS 4-H meetings are held monthly after school and are conducted by the student officers. Our current club consists of approximately 35 members and is growing stronger each year.
The ACDS 4-H club has been awarded 2nd place as “Outstanding 4-H Club” in Rapides Parish for the past three years.
